Car Show

Every 3rd Thursday during the summer DayBreak has a car show in SodaRow and we FINALLY went! 

Calin was SUPER embarassed to pose next to a car. 

He finally agreed but only if he could make a funny face :S

This truck reminded me of my sis, Kenzie.

Week 15

Please excuse the messy hair and lack of make-up. We had a fun (but exhausting) day at the park with Bruce. This is the first week I finally can SEE a real bump. There is a baby in there somewhere :)

Flower Pillow

I've seen flower pillows at all the stores & each time I reach for one I flinch at the price. How can one stinkin' pillow cost so much?!

I decided to make my own and here's how I did it.

1. Covered an existing pillow with my choice of blue fabric

2. Cut half moon shapes from white fabric

3. Start from the outside and place half moons in a circle. I hot glued a dot (on the straight edge) to keep them in place. Going around the circle, I stitched them by hand. This was a long process but, worth it in the end.

4. For the middle, I cut 4 circles (used a drinking glass as a guide). I gathered the circles from the middle and stitched them onto the pillow.

Ta da! The final product was definitely worth a Saturday in front of the TV (sewing, of course!)

Week 14

I have made it to the next check point--the second trimester!! I am REALLY looking forward to less barfing & more energy. Most say that the 2nd trimester is by far the easiest and most enjoyable.

At our last Dr's visit, I acquired a miracle drug for nausea. I keep those precious little pills with me everywhere I go. At the slightest sign of nausea, I pop one in my mouth and I am feeling better within 10 minutes. I can't believe I didn't have these the last 9 terrifying weeks--geez! 

Unusual Cravings

Today I had my first strange craving--dish soap. Up until now, my only cravings had been for a $0.89 crunchy taco from Taco Bell.

This craving was so strong I had to have Calin hide the soap so I wouldn't be tempted to have a taste.
 I wonder what crazy craving I'll have next...

Week 13

Last week of the first trimester-hallelujah! I am SO stinkin' excited to leave the nausea, barfing & overwhelming fatigue behind. 

At this point, I can't tell if I've got an actual baby bump or just my regular food bump :) 

Does EVERYTHING Have to Give Me Heartburn?

Only 9 weeks into this shindig and I'm having heartburn & indigestion like crazy. I know that if I snarf down a Wendy's baconator, I will get heartburn--duh! Now, eating crackers & cheese....come on!

I can't even drink a glass of water with out feeling like my insides are on fire.


So far my saving grace has been a tall glass of milk & a handful of Tums.

Our Little Peanut: Ultrasound 1

Today we got our first ultrasound (Dr. Sok wanted to make sure we knew the correct due date).

It was amazing to finally SEE our little peanut growing. It started to make everything seem a little bit more real. I'm not far enough along to hear to heartbeat but, the ultrasound tech could still capture how many beats per minute- a healthy 174. Rumor has it that a heartbeat over 150 means the little jellybean is gunna be a girl. I guess we'll wait and see if that theory is true, eh?

Telling Daddy

I wanted to do something special for Calin to tell him he was going to be a daddy. I googled "how to tell your spouse your pregnant". I found a couple of awesome ideas, now all I had to do was execute.

Remember how I said I wasn't good at keeping fun secrets? Well, when Calin walked in the door I completely forgot about all the cool ways to tell him he was going to be a daddy. I grabbed the pee stick and said, "look what I found today!" 

His smile reached from ear to ear and that's all I needed. He was happy, I was happy & I think Bruce (puppy dog) was happy. Our family just got a little bigger :)
